What we do

We take field experience, hard-won knowledge, and the science of working with India's wildlife, and turn it into structured, accessible training. The Compass is where what has been learned in two decades of rescue, rehabilitation, and human-wildlife conflict response becomes something you can build on.
ABOUT
The RESQ Compass is the internal learning platform of RESQ, built on nearly two decades of frontline wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and human–wildlife conflict response across Maharashtra. It exists because the field demanded it.

India is home to extraordinary wildlife, and to an equally extraordinary community of people working to protect it: rescuers, rehabilitators, forest department personnel, veterinarians, community responders, and wildlife managers. For years, much of the knowledge in this space has been passed on informally, learned under pressure, and built through experience in the field. That knowledge is invaluable. But it has rarely had the structure or accessibility it deserves.

The RESQ Compass brings that learning together. It transforms lived field experience into structured, practical training that can be shared across teams. These courses are not adapted from distant contexts, they are built from the ground up, shaped by work with Indian species, informed by current science, and designed for the realities of rescue and rehabilitation in our landscapes.

The scope of this work is only growing. Human-wildlife conflict is increasing across the country, and with it, the demand for trained, informed, and capable people in every role: in the field, in rehabilitation centres, in conflict response, in conservation management, and in policy. India's wildlife sector needs a new generation of professionals who are not just passionate, but prepared. It also needs its current practitioners to keep learning, keep questioning, and keep raising the bar.

This platform is part of an ongoing effort. Just like the field itself, it will continue to evolve. But learning cannot wait for perfect systems. Every course completed, every skill developed, and every lesson applied in the field contributes to better outcomes, for our teams, and for the animals we work to protect.

Meet your Guides

The people building and delivering content on this platform are the same people who have spent years doing this work in the field. Between them, they bring expertise across wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, human-wildlife conflict management, veterinary care, wildlife crime, and conservation operations.
